Published to coincide with the exhibition of the same name at Villa Paloma, the book offers a broad perspective on the work of Pier Paolo Calzolari, retracing the significant moments of a career that saw him rub shoulders with the leading exponents of Arte Povera and conceptual art. It includes works produced between the late 1960s and 2023, which the artist arranged in the Villa Paloma to create an intimate tour of the three floors of this former residence, as well as numerous exhibition views and historical snapshots. The exhibition is complemented by texts by art historians Valérie Da Costa, Didier Semin, Stéphane Vacquier and Andrea Viliani, as well as an interview by Calzolari with Guillaume de Sardes. Inspired by the manifesto-like declaration “casa ideale” (1968) and Calzolarian colors, this book offers a retrospective look at the master’s eminently poetic work.
